BikeBack pairs with your Bluetooth cycling rear-view radar and speaks "car back, 45 meters" through your iPhone speaker or Bluetooth headphones when vehicles approach from behind. No bike computer or head unit required — just your radar and your phone. And if you do ride with a head unit, BikeBack works alongside it. Your radar stays connected to both.
How it works
Pair your radar
Open BikeBack, go to Settings, and pair your Bluetooth cycling radar. One-time setup — it auto-reconnects on every ride. Watch the video.
Ride
Put your phone in your pocket or mount. BikeBack works in the background — screen on or off.
Hear "car back"
When your radar detects a vehicle approaching from behind, BikeBack announces "car back, 45 meters" through your speaker or headphones. If a second vehicle appears, you hear "car 2 back, 80 meters." When they pass, you hear "all clear."
Why BikeBack
Voice alerts with distance
Hear exactly how far back a vehicle is — "car back, 85 meters." Multiple cars? BikeBack numbers them — "car 2 back, 50 meters" — so you always know what's behind you.
Speaker or headphones
Works through your phone speaker, AirPods, Shokz, bone conduction headphones, or any Bluetooth audio device.
No head unit needed
Don't own a bike computer? No problem. Pair your radar directly to your phone and get voice alerts. Already have a head unit? BikeBack runs alongside it — your radar connects to both at the same time.
Radar battery level
See your radar's battery percentage on screen so you never start a ride with a dead radar.
Works in your pocket
No screen interaction needed. BikeBack runs in the background with audio alerts — your phone stays in your jersey pocket.
No account, no tracking
No sign-up, no servers, no data collection. BikeBack connects directly to your radar over Bluetooth. Nothing leaves your phone.
Works with or without a head unit
Your bike computer beeps for segments, turns, climbs, laps, and hazards. Somewhere in that chorus is your radar saying "a car is approaching" — and you might miss it. BikeBack speaks up instead, so the one alert that matters most doesn't get lost in the noise.
Don't have a head unit at all? BikeBack gives your radar a voice without one. Your radar connects directly to your phone over Bluetooth — no bike computer, no extra hardware. Just your radar and your iPhone.
⚠️ Backup only — not a replacement
BikeBack is a secondary alert layer. Always rely on your mirror, head-checks, and bike computer first. Radar alerts may be missed, delayed, or fail silently. This feature is in a test phase and may change in future updates. Ride as if BikeBack isn't there.
Compatible radars
BikeBack works with Bluetooth Low Energy cycling radars that follow the standard rear-view radar profile.
Older radars that use ANT+ only are not supported, since iOS does not support ANT+.
BikeBack is from the makers of BikeTalk — proximity radio for cyclists.
